Guestbooks!

Woohoo! I’ve been waiting for the day I can offer some products! Here is the first of many “albums” that I want to be able to offer. This one is a guestbook but not your ordinary guestbook!

Gone are the days of boring old guestbooks with plain white pages and “sign here” lines. Gone are the days when your guestbook gets shelved never to be seen again. Guestbooks like these will be perfect as a coffeetable book for constant display! Not only that, guests attending your wedding can sign their names with their messages and view pictures of you at the same time!

I’m definitely having one of these if I ever get married! There are a whole bunch of different styles out there. One by one I’ll get them in hand. Plus I’m a graphic designer at heart so I get so excited to design something like this and have it finally in hand

This Guestbook by Tuscany Albums comes with two archival grade pens! I remember using these pens for drafting class! Simply sweet and top quality no doubt. Inks designed to last.

Here’s a quick proof of the inside cover page!

Leather bound with inscribed names!

Sweet. Coil bound. One page of a full color spread on the left. One page where people can sign in on the right.

Thick pages and lustre coating for that shiny look! Gosh the color reproduction is awesome!

As time goes on I will be offering more products. You will now be able to find it in my redone “Links” section up top. All my inspiration links were there have been moved to their own page. You can also find these products in their own category under the “Categories” link next to the “Links” link.

YAY! I met David Jay and Jasmine Star! | Free to Succeed Tour | Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf Hotel |San Francisco, CA

Ok so I didn’t really meet Jasmine Star because I had to leave but I did get a chance to meet David Jay! Meeting David Jay for me is like you basketball fans meeting Jordan or something. DJ is one of the most well known wedding photographers! Anyways I love how his message was yes, all business, but in the end it was to help each other out in order to succeed. Quite a radical message in a world where greed and selfishness abounds.

Jasmine Star was also a very entertaining and informative speaker! I never really considered myself a “boutique” photographer until after her speech. Pretty cool.

Everytime I come back from these business related workshop/conferences, I get so overwhelmed with all the info. I’m probably not as business savvy as others may be but regardless, I press on learning and learning!

Remember when DJ linked me back when on his OSP blog and in an email? And my hit count on this blog shot up like mad…and the fact that I needed someone to explain to me what had happened? I finally got to meet him!

The Freedom bus as I was driving around finding parking!! Dude when will I be able to travel around with big names?? Must be fun!

There were so many people at the event!

What workshop/conference gives out artesian water?! LOL yummy no doubt.

w00t autograph bliss-ness. I had originally planned to beg for a freedom shirt but forgot. oh well haha.

Joyce + Daniel Wedding 8.2.08 | Whitney Oaks Golf Club | Rocklin, CA

I think being a wedding photographer is great because you are invited to be a part of a couple’s most special day. To be invited to capture the moment is quite something! Not only that, I think as the photographer you develop a relationship with the bride and groom different from that of all the others (non family/friends) attending the event. It’s for these reasons that I continue to try to better myself!

Joyce is the sister of my former housemate Chris Tan (a good housemate at that!). Their wedding was very fast paced but no less awesome at a very nice location! Running around sweating bullets was fun and challenging! I had to remember to keep myself hydrated throughout the entire event since the word “hot” can’t describe how hot it was. I even chugged so much soda that I couldn’t sleep that night when I got home.

Check out some shots from Eric Fung who second shot for me that day!

Congratulations Joyce and Daniel!

I was surprised to see Mark (leftmost guy) as a groosmen as I haven’t seen him in ages! Chris, the brother of Joyce is the dude next to Mark.

Very nice how Joyce looked up just when I was taking a picture. I wonder what her dad is thinking! Or maybe he was just making sure he didn’t fall. I almost slipped and fell a couple times on that pebbly slope.

Seriously, a bride all decked out is just awe inspiring for me for some reason. I’m not saying it inspires me to wear a dress but I’m just saying it looks so glorious!

The veil is everywhere! Me likes. Wind + veil is a good combo. Wind and veil should get married too, though if they hire me to be their photographer, I wouldn’t know how to capture wind….

As mentioned in a previous post, I have this newfound fascination with dried tall grasses.

Pretty sharp for manual focusing in near complete darkness no? Canon should invent a laser that can help lenses focus in complete darkness…haha

[update 8/18/08: I didn't notice until now but this photo was featured on JSandifer's blog! What a true honor to be post on elsewhere!]

Out Spotting Sunsets | Davis, CA

There aren’t many times when I am able to just drop everything I have on my plate and take a breather to myself. I am doing all the things I long to do and enjoy doing them but they do take up practically all my time. It’s only recently I am learning more and more to let go and give my time to what matters most in life.

The previous day I had seen that the sky was full of awesome clouds but for some reason it never occurred to me to go out and take pictures at sunset so I wasn’t about to let this following day get away

Standing out there under the magnificent clouds just gives me such an indescribable feeling. The sky is God’s canvas and everything in nature speaks of His glory and after viewing such an awesome display of power and artistry I can only respond in worship. Not to mention, to have been given the ability and means to capture a part of His beauty in photographs just humbles me. I don’t deserve this. Why would a holy God have any dialogue with a sinner like me?

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.” - Psalm 19:1-4

I hope next time you are able to enjoy the sunset, that you are also able to think of a Creator who created such things! Soli Deo Gloria.

I started photography many years ago as a landscape photographer. This is one of the things that life is about and I wouldn’t want to miss it for anything.

Keep on the lookout for my Fine Art photos that I will make avaliable for purchase through Pictage! I finally have a means to offer my prints for sale as so many people have been asking me! I will post on it later.

I can’t tell you how much I love clouds. This one is dedicated to a good friend =).

I’ve been having this new fascination with dried grass and wheat on my shoots.

Caleb likes tagging along with me to various places and using my big lens.

I guess he likes the big lens because he feels like he’s a sniper in the grass.

Here is a shot Caleb took with that camera. Good job Caleb? I think so. =)

The progression of colors as the sun sets is utterly amazing. This is when the sun was seconds before disappearing

The best sunsets happen when there is a clear horizon and there are clouds (maybe not clouds like these but ones that are higher up and cover the sky more). When the sun dips below the cloud cover, it’s rays will bounce off the Earth and hit the clouds from the underside giving you the amazing colors. Remember that next time when you are out sunset spotting =).

A Post 911 World for Us Spotters | Southwest Airlines

When I hear the term “post 911 world,” my heart cringes. It’s 100% negative…at least for us spotters and maybe even for you non spotters. It has affected us all in some way.

Couple weeks ago I went to the airport (will purposely neglect to say which one) to pick up a friend and wanted to get some pics of the landing…too bad 5min before I spotted her jet on its base leg lining up for finals down the runway, security came around and told me to stop. I was in a public place with legal access, in full public view, was honest to the cop and showed him my pictures that weren’t of the buildings, but I guess those things don’t matter. I understand security has their job to do. I don’t want to bash them. That probably won’t stop me from doing it again though.

In this world today, I can’t even take some sentimental images of my friend landing in! Sorry friend! The only pics I wanted, I didn’t get. My friend was flying in on a Continental 737-900 series jet too. I have never seen a -900 series before. It is the longest and largest 737 to date. Yea, a shame I couldn’t capture it.

But I was able to get some Southwest jets basking in some great light though.

I love seeing jets being readied for their next flight. Look at all those service vehicles! If I could be any machine, I would be a small 737-700 with winglets just like this one. This is N738CB, she is 9 years old.

N298WN landed, pulled in and stopped short of the gate. Thanks for stopping to pose for me! She is about half a year old!

Mmmm Southwest colors are great aren’t they?

N298WN again posing for me at the gate.

N738CB launches away into the sunset. She was built in 1999 and without winglets.

Looks just like my model right? HAHAHAHA! I wonder how long it will take before people say that airplane models are illegal too as they are tools to help terrorist plan. Gosh. I’m just stating the absurdity of this all.

(a stock pic from Gemini Jets, I didn’t have time to take a shot of my own model)
